Well if you have been keeping up to date with the blog then you know I haven't ridden the bike since last Sunday when I got trapped by the wildfires and was unable to continue northward withouth jumping on the train. I was a little bummed and upset with the fact that I had to go around the fires and unable to ride, but at the same time I have loved the time I got to spend with the family that I have out here in CA. I even got to meet my distant cousins from Hong Kong and their mother. We are planning on going on a tour of Alcatraz tomorrow as a last hurray in San Fransisco before I take off Friday. After sitting around the house today and reading my book and comtemplating life, I decided God put those fires and this heat wave in my way not just to challenge me, but to bring me closer to family that I barely knew prior to the start of this journey. While I am anxious to get back in the saddle I am thankful for the opportunities I have had to spend with my family out here in CA. That being said it is time for this dog to turn in and get some shut eye so I can be good and alert for that tour of Alcatraz tomorrow morning.
P.S. Thanks for all the comments and donations. I know that the distance covered isn't as important as the reason I am riding. Unfortunately I have been cursed/blessed with a very competitive never give up nature so when I feel like I am coming up short or unable to do what I set out to do I get down on myself, but I understand that God is doing this for a reason and I am happy to accept His intervention and am glad He has watched over me thus far on this ride. Take care.

You are a tough and determined guy! I heard about you thru Stacy Andrist in my church. I have a son who lives is Kasson and a brother who is nuts about biking, too. Good luck on the rest of your trip!
