45 Miles thru the fog.....

45 miles today….. Fog was super thick today…..could see only about 30 yards in front of me all day. Lots of up and down…hilly ride all day. Only road for 4 ½ hours. Debating on whether going to Legget tomorrow or Tuesday. That’s one of my last big climbs. Staying the night at Mackerricher State Park….2 miles north of Fort Bragg. Today I was riding along and thought I saw some of those fake plastic owls on these fence posts….you know the ones that farmers use to scare off predators. Well…it was really foggy and I was riding next to them until one of the opened its wings. They were actually turkey vultures….one on each post…about 12 of them. Scared the crap out of me. Wish I would have had my camera out to take a picture of them. So foggy I suppose they were waiting it out. Last night I went down to the beach…saw some Mule Deer and Jack Rabbit. Beach was very nice….but cold. Finally got some rubbing alcohol today….so hope to use my penny stove. Haven’t been able to find any canned heat or rubbing alcohol with high enough alcohol content to burn…..so been eating a lot of cheap, high calorie fast food. Talked to a couple of bikers….. they are all doing around 40 miles a day. Funny…they are all going South. They meet up every few days or so at the campgrounds during their trips. I meet them once and remind them I won’t be seeing them again because I am going north….not south like all the normal people. May stay here in Fort Bragg area for a day or so and rest up before the big climb to Legget. Also will check out the AT&T store in Fort Bragg tomorrow and see if they have an IPhone for me. I’ll also try and send some more pictures tomorrow if I can find a library open to download them.
